Berkeley Waitlist Odds

About this site

Berkeley Waitlist Odds answers one question: you are at some position on a UC Berkeley course waitlist, how often did that spot clear in time, and how fast? It is a student project by Oliver Guo (Applied Mathematics and Statistics, UC Berkeley), built as a public, reproducible piece of applied statistics.

Not affiliated

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or maintained by UC Berkeley, the Office of the Registrar, or Berkeleytime. It reads public enrollment counts and publishes historical frequencies. Nothing here is a guarantee, an official estimate, or advice from any department.

Where the numbers come from

Two sources, and every page says which one it is showing. This project's own scraper reads the public section pages of classes.berkeley.edu every 30 minutes during an enrollment cycle and stores the counts. Until that collection has a full cycle, the estimates come from the Spring 2026 cycle (the same season and calendar shape as Spring 2027) as recorded in Berkeleytime's public enrollment history; those numbers are labelled from Berkeleytime's public history wherever they appear. Neither source contains student identities or positions: the data are aggregate counts, and the odds are for hypothetical students reconstructed under stated assumptions. The methodology page explains how, and the accuracy page shows how well past estimates held up.

Privacy

No accounts, no cookies, no tracking pixels, and nothing you type is sent anywhere: lookups run in your browser against files it has already downloaded. The site may count page views with GoatCounter, which stores no personal data; when that is on, it is loaded from this page and nothing else is.

Licence

The code, the analysis and this site are open source under the MIT licence in the repository. The snapshot data collected by this project are published on the repository's data branch. Berkeleytime's history is theirs; this project stores only the aggregates derived from it.

Feedback

Found a wrong number, a course that will not resolve, or a place where the wording misleads? Open an issue on GitHub. If you were on a waitlist and want to tell the project what happened, an outcome form will be linked from the lookup page once Spring 2027 enrollment opens.
